Bank Promotions Without Direct Deposit: 8 Checking Account Bonuses You Can Actually Get

Eight bank bonuses you can earn with a few debit purchases or a deposit you hold for 60 to 90 days, no paycheck switch required. Verified against each bank's offer page, with deadlines.

Most bank bonuses have one catch: you have to move your paycheck. If you are self-employed, paid through an app, already have a direct deposit you do not want to touch, or just do not want to fill out another HR form, that rules out almost every big offer.

A handful of bonuses skip that requirement. You earn them by doing something else: a few debit card purchases, a one-time deposit you hold for a couple of months, or a small transfer every month. The trade-off is that most of them pay less than the paycheck bonuses, and some want a big deposit sitting still for 60 to 90 days.

Every offer below was checked against the bank's own promo page as of this update. Deadlines are listed because bank bonuses expire and the pages that list them usually forget to say so. If you can only do one, pick the one whose requirement you would meet anyway, not the biggest number.

Checking and Savings Bonuses Without Direct Deposit

These are the personal accounts. They are ordered by how easy the requirement is for someone with no paycheck to move, not by the size of the bonus.

Chase Secure Banking: $175 for 10 transactions

Bonus$175
Instead of direct deposit10 qualifying transactions in 60 days
ExpiresOctober 14, 2026

This is the easiest one on the page. Open the account, then make any combination of 10 debit card purchases, online bill payments, Zelle payments, mobile check deposits or ACH credits within 60 days. Ten coffees count. Chase says the $175 lands within 15 days after you finish.

The cost is a $4.95 monthly fee. Chase waives it if you are 17 to 24 or if $250 or more in electronic deposits hits the account each statement period, and a transfer from another bank counts for that. If you do neither, you pay about $30 in fees over 6 months and still come out $145 ahead. Secure Banking has no overdraft fees and no paper checks. Read the account-closure rule on Chase's page before you plan to close it early.

Raisin: up to $900 for parking savings 90 days

Bonus$40 to $900, plus $10 to $100 boost
Instead of direct depositDeposit $10,000+ and hold it 90 days
CodeSTACK, register by September 30, 2026

Raisin is a marketplace for high-yield savings accounts and CDs at partner banks and credit unions, and it pays new customers a tiered bonus on top of the interest. With code STACK the tiers are $40 for $10,000 to $24,999, $100 for $25,000 to $49,999, $200 for $50,000 to $99,999, $425 for $100,000 to $199,999 and $900 for $200,000 or more. Put at least $1,000 into a second product type (a CD next to your savings, or the reverse) within 14 days and Raisin adds $10 to $100 on top. You have 14 days to fund and the balance has to stay for 90 days.

Be honest with the math. $40 on $10,000 is 0.4%, so the bonus alone is not a reason to move money. The reason is that the money was going to sit in savings anyway, and Raisin's partner rates plus the bonus beat a big-bank savings account paying almost nothing. Raisin rotates a new code most months; if September's code has expired by the time you read this, the current one is on Raisin's page.

SoFi Checking and Savings: $50 without direct deposit, up to $475 with it

Bonus$50, up to $475 total with direct deposit
Instead of direct depositOpen through the invite link, deposit $500 within 21 days
Runs throughDecember 31, 2026

SoFi's big bonus needs direct deposit, but the invite-link bonus does not. Open Checking and Savings as your first SoFi account through the link below and deposit $500 within 21 days, and you get $50. A transfer from your existing bank is fine for that part. If you later add direct deposit, the same account can pay up to $475 in total.

There are no account fees and no overdraft fees. This is a referral link: we receive a referral bonus when you open through it, and SoFi's own page has the full terms, rates and fine print, which is where you should confirm them before you apply.

Alliant Credit Union: $100 for saving $100 a month

Bonus$100
Instead of direct deposit$100 a month for 12 months, $1,200 balance at the end
Offer throughDecember 31, 2026

Alliant's Ultimate Opportunity Savings account pays $100 after 12 months if you deposit at least $100 every calendar month, keep a $100 average daily balance, and finish the year with $1,200 or more in it. The first $100 has to land within 30 days of opening. No direct deposit, and a scheduled transfer from any bank does the job.

It is slow money: a year of waiting for $100. Treat it as a forced savings habit that happens to pay a bonus, and remember the $1,200 you built is still yours. Existing Alliant members, joint owners on an Alliant savings account, and anyone who closed one in the last 180 days are not eligible.

WEOKIE Credit Union: $200 for 20 debit purchases (Oklahoma)

Bonus$200
Instead of direct deposit20 debit card purchases in the first 45 days
ExpiresDecember 31, 2026

If you live in Oklahoma, this is the best pure no-direct-deposit checking bonus on the list. Open an Ultimate with BaZing Checking account with a $20 deposit, use the debit card 20 times in 45 days (swipes and online purchases both count), and get $200. New members only, and you cannot already have a WEOKIE checking account.

The catch is the $6.95 monthly fee. That is $83.40 a year, so year one nets you about $117 unless you downgrade or close after the bonus posts. The fee buys cell phone protection and roadside assistance, which is only worth it if you were paying for those anyway.

Business Checking Bonuses Without Direct Deposit

Business accounts almost never ask for direct deposit. They ask for new money and a few transactions instead, which makes them the biggest no-direct-deposit bonuses available if you have a business, including a sole proprietorship or side business with income.

Chase Business Complete Checking: $400 or $500

Bonus$400 with $2,000, $500 with $10,000
Instead of direct depositHold the deposit 60 days, 5 transactions in 90 days
ExpiresOctober 15, 2026

Deposit $2,000 in new money, keep the balance there for 60 days from enrollment, and make any 5 qualifying transactions within 90 days: debit card purchases, mobile deposits, ACH credits, wires, bill pay or card payments through Chase QuickAccept. That pays $400. Deposit $10,000 instead and it pays $500. Chase deposits the bonus within 15 days after you meet everything.

The $2,000 tier is the sweet spot. Going from $2,000 to $10,000 for an extra $100 is not worth tying up $8,000 more. The account has a monthly fee that Chase waives with a $2,000 balance, so the money you park for the bonus also kills the fee. Enroll before October 15.

U.S. Bank Business Essentials: $400 or $1,200

Bonus$400 with $5,000, $1,200 with $25,000
Instead of direct depositDeposit within 30 days, hold 60 days, 6 transactions
ExpiresJanuary 13, 2027, code Q4DIG26

Open a Business Essentials account, deposit $5,000 in new money within 30 days, keep at least that balance for 60 days, and complete 6 qualifying transactions in those 60 days (debit purchases, ACH, Zelle, wires, mobile check deposit, bill pay). That pays $400. The Platinum Business Checking package pays $1,200 for the same steps with $25,000. Promo code Q4DIG26 is applied automatically when you open through the offer page.

You have the longest runway here, into January 2027, so this is the one to do after the Chase offer closes. Six transactions in 60 days is one a week and a half. The $1,200 tier is real money if your business already keeps $25,000 in cash, and a waste of liquidity if it does not.

Huntington Business Checking: $400 or $1,000 (22 states)

Bonus$400 with $5,000, $1,000 with $20,000
Instead of direct depositNew money within 60 days, account open 90 days
Apply byOctober 14, 2026

Open an Unlimited Business Checking (or Unlimited Plus, Business Analyzed, or a non-profit checking) account, deposit $5,000 in new money within 60 days, and keep the account open 90 days for $400. The $1,000 tier is on Unlimited Plus with $20,000 in new money. Huntington only counts the promotion if you open from its offer page, so the code is claimed at signup.

It is limited to businesses in AL, AR, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV and WI. Virginia, New York, California and most of the West are out. If you are eligible, the $400 for $5,000 tier is easier than Chase's because there is no transaction requirement.

Popular Bank Bonuses That Do Require Direct Deposit

These get listed on “no direct deposit” pages all the time and they should not be. If you can move a paycheck, they pay more than most of the offers above. If you cannot, skip them.

Chase Total Checking pays $400, but only after direct deposits totaling $1,000 or more within 90 days, and the offer expires October 14, 2026.

Current pays $75 with code WELCOME75, but only after $1,500 or more in payroll deposits within 35 days. Transfers, Venmo, Cash App and mobile check deposits do not count. Current is a financial technology company, not a bank; its banking services come from partner banks. Our Current review covers what the account is actually good for.

Citi's $325 checking bonus needs two Enhanced Direct Deposits totaling $3,000 within 90 days. Capital One's $250 on 360 Checking needs two direct deposits of $500 or more. Neither has a no-direct-deposit path.

How to Get a Bank Bonus Without Direct Deposit

Check what the bank counts before you transfer. “New money” means funds from outside that bank. A transfer from your existing checking account counts for the deposit-based bonuses above. It does not count as a direct deposit anywhere, no matter how the transfer is labeled.

Put the deadline and the hold date in your calendar the day you open. Most of these have two clocks: the funding window (14 to 60 days) and the hold or activity window (45 to 90 days). Missing either one by a day means no bonus.

Subtract the fees. A $4.95 or $6.95 monthly fee is small until you hold the account 6 months to be safe. Do that math on the $175 and $200 offers before you open them.

Expect a tax form. Bank bonuses are interest income. Banks report them on a 1099-INT (some fintechs use a 1099-MISC), so a $400 bonus is really about $300 to $350 after tax depending on your bracket.

Do not close early. Most banks claw the bonus back if the account closes within 6 months, and some block you from their next bonus for a year or two. Leave it open, leave a small balance, and move on.

Bank Bonus Without Direct Deposit FAQs

Which bank gives the biggest bonus without direct deposit?

For personal accounts it is Raisin, which pays $40 to $900 on a savings or CD deposit of $10,000 or more held for 90 days, with no direct deposit at all. For the easiest one, Chase Secure Banking pays $175 for 10 transactions in 60 days. If you have a business, Chase Business Complete Checking pays $400 for a $2,000 deposit held 60 days and 5 transactions.

Can I get a checking account bonus without direct deposit?

Yes. Chase Secure Banking pays $175 after 10 qualifying transactions in 60 days, WEOKIE Credit Union pays $200 after 20 debit purchases if you live in Oklahoma, and most business checking bonuses only ask for a deposit and a few transactions. Most big personal checking bonuses (Chase Total Checking, Citi, Capital One 360) still require direct deposit.

Does a transfer from another bank count as a direct deposit?

No. Banks define direct deposit as an ACH payment from an employer, payroll provider or government payer. A transfer you push from another account counts as “new money” for deposit-based bonuses, but it will not satisfy a direct deposit requirement, even if some banks accidentally code it that way.

Can I get the SoFi bonus without direct deposit?

Partly. Open SoFi Checking and Savings as your first SoFi account through an invite link and deposit $500 within 21 days for $50 with no direct deposit. The larger tiers, up to $475 in total, need direct deposit. SoFi's page has the full terms.

Are bank bonuses taxable?

Yes. A bank bonus is interest income and the bank reports it on a 1099-INT (some fintechs use a 1099-MISC). Plan on keeping roughly 75% to 85% of the bonus after federal and state tax, depending on your bracket.
